Uyo Erupts in Celebration After Buhari Election Win

All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State took to the streets of Uyo on Tuesday, March 31, after former Nigerian military leader Muhammadu Buhari became the first opposition candidate in the country’s history to defeat an incumbent president. Buhari’s victory was a welcome announcement in Uyo, where protesters rallied just one day before calling for last weekend’s elections to be declared void.

APC supporters in Uyo claimed there had been irregularities in the presidential and National Assembly elections.
