Violent Clashes Erupt as Houthis Overrun Taiz

Anti-Houthi demonstrations erupted in Taiz on Sunday, March 22, shortly after Houthi militants overran Yemen’s third-largest city, reportedly taking key government buildings and its international airport. According to local reports, Houthis in military uniforms fired live rounds and tear gas to disperse protesters. The Houthi forces are backed by supporters of former President Ali Abdullah Saleh.
