Volcano Erupts on Reunion Island Where Suspected MH370 Debris Washed Up

Tourists flocked to the Piton de la Fournaise volcano in the west of the Indian Ocean island La Reunion, to witness its eruption on Friday, July 31. Authorities issued a statement saying that they were trying to regulate the flow of visitors to the volcano site where a perfectly visibly fissure spewing lava made for spectacular viewing.

The eruption followed just two days after plane debris washed up on the island, suspected of belonging to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. Credit: Instagram/willipetersen
