WFP: Refugees Fleeing Boko Haram Experience Increased Hunger

In a new video posted to YouTube on June 1, the World Food Programme (WFP) reports from Cameroon on refugees fleeing Boko Haram’s onslaught, saying that the refugees are experiencing higher rates of malnutrition.

“These people here lived in a village about 60km away,” says WFP’s Jonathan Dumont. “They received a note one day telling them they should flee or else Boko Haram would come and take their children… 250 of them are now living here. WFP is reaching them with food, but nearby is another camp that is holding some 39,000 people from Nigeria.”
