WFP Steps Up Operations to Feed Nigerian Refugees

The World Food Programme (WFP) is reporting that escalating violence by militants in Nigeria is causing thousands to flee into Niger, Cameroon and Chad. According to the organization, this is putting a further strain on some of the poorest nations in Africa.

In this short film, Antonio Avella, deputy country director for the World Food Programme in Niger, says 100,000 people have crossed into Niger. Of those, he says, Bosso, a small town of 10,000 people, accounts for 20,000. "They fully depend on the humanitarian assistance,” he says. Credit: YouTube\WFP
