World's First Hologram March Held to Protest 'Gag Law'

The world’s first hologram protest was held in Madrid, Spain, on the evening of April 11 to protest a controversial law that, critics say, criminalizes the right to protest. More than 2,000 virtual images sent from people around the world took part in the hologram march, which was displayed in front of the parliament building, reported El Pais.

Known as the “Gag Law,” Spain’s Citizens’ Security Law makes it illegal to burn the national flag and protest outside parliament buildings, carrying a maximum fine of €30,000 and €600,000 respectively.

NoSomosDelito, organizer of the protest, said on its website the government “will not silence our voices, and even if we have to turn ourselves into holograms, we will keep on protesting.” Credit: Twitter/GiedreP
