New York City Ferries Struggle With Icy Rivers

Frozen waterways around Manhattan made for a tricky commute for New York City area ferry riders on February 20. Temperatures were at 1 degree in the city in the morning commuting time. Ferry operators had to tug boats across the Hudson River to break the ice, according to local media. Some area ferry services were replaced with bus services, while the Staten Island Ferry operated on a modified schedule.
