Mini revealed a new performance-oriented John Cooper Works variant for the latest Countryman crossover, which brings extra power and a snazzier design.
The John Cooper Works model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four producing 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
While the torque output is unchanged from the standard Countryman, the horsepower rating is up by 71 ponies.
Mini claims a zero-to-62-mph time of 5.4 seconds, an improvement over the standard model's 5.4-second sprint.
Mini says the JCW variant wears stronger performance brakes, which are painted red for a bit of visual pizzazz.
Both 19.0- and 20.0-inch wheels are available, wrapped in 245-section Continental EcoContact 6Q tires.
The exhaust is said to provide a "characteristic sound," and extra engine noise can be broadcast into the cabin.
Visual updates include a new grille and front bumper, along with a plethora of red accents.
An optional package provides driver-assistance tech that allows hands-free operation up to 37 mph on "highway-like" roads.
The Countryman JCW will start at $47,895 when deliveries begin next spring.
