This Morning viewers have criticised host Ruth Langsford for talking about herself during an interview with current Strictly Come Dancing contestant Kate Silverton.

Silverton was appearing on the daytime TV show to talk about her time on Strictly and tease the rumba that she’ll be performing on Saturday’s Halloween special – but Langsford couldn’t help but talk about her own time on the dancing programme.

Langsford featured in last year’s season of Strictly, lasting a respectable eight weeks on the show with her dancing partner Anton Du Beke. And the 58-year-old presenter clearly has fond memories, as she kept interjecting with her own anecdotes and advice for Silverton.

Silverton was speaking about dealing with nerves on the show when Langsford interrupted and said:

“You can’t plan for those kind of nerves, can you? I threw myself into it. I worked hard. I was always at training, doing all that stuff, but sometimes the nerves… You just can’t control.”

Silverton then revealed that she and her dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec started training for their rumba on Monday, only for Langsford to jump in again and talk about her own experience.

“I did rumba week three and I found it really hard.”

The This Morning presenter recalled dressing as a Bond girl and dancing to ‘Diamonds are Forever’ for movie week.

“I looked the part but just couldn’t get the legs right. I got myself into a complete twist,” she said.

Many viewers mocked Langsford recalling her own time on the show via Twitter, with many claiming she was making the interview all about herself.

Other viewers were amused by the expression on the face of her co-host and husband Eamon Holmes, who quite frankly looked like he was sick of hearing about Strictly.

Earlier in the programme, Holmes had teased his wife about her performance on Strictly, saying: “Forgive me… I wasn’t the one who mocked and laughed at you and gave you ‘nil poi’.

“Darling if only they knew you gave everything you could, that you weren’t very good and you just couldn’t help it.”
