Vigo County presents $49,500 to help repair mural wall at museum

Mar. 19—Members of the Vigo County Council and the Vigo County Commissioners presented Vigo County History Center Executive Director Marla Flowers with a check for $49,500 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to help repair the Coca-Cola mural on the building's east exterior wall on Monday.

"We are deeply grateful to the Vigo County Commissioners and Vigo County Council for their support of our museum," said Flowers. "This funding will allow us to preserve and restore the building infrastructure and share the vibrant history of our community with residents and visitors alike."

"The partnership between the Commissioners and Council to allocate these ARPA funds to the Vigo County History Center is pivotal for the museum's infrastructure improvements," said Commissioner Chris Switzer. "This much-needed investment will modernize our facilities, enhancing the visitor experience and ensuring the museum remains a cornerstone of our community for years to come."
