Will Vikings Valhalla return for season 4?Netflix

After a long and impatient wait (on our part) Vikings: Valhalla is finally back on Netflix for season three. We're straight back into the action, following the end of last season which saw the group arrive in Constantinople, and now we'll see the continuation of Leif, Harald and Freydis' journeys. However, is season three the last time we'll see our favourite group of warriors?

Vikings: Valhalla first appeared on our screens in 2022 as a sequel to the wildly popular series Vikings which ran for six seasons. Since its debut the sequel has had three seasons which regularly appear globally in the Netflix Top 10.

But will we get a season four of Vikings: Valhalla on Netflix? Here's what you need to know.

Is there going to be a season 4 of Vikings: Valhalla?

We hate (there's literally nothing worse) to be the bearers of bad news but unfortunately there will not be a season four of Vikings: Valhalla. Excuse us whilst we process this devastating information.

Back in October 2023, series showrunner Jeb Stuart confirmed in an interview with IGN the series would end after the third season.

"I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald and Freydis. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today and we have done just that," he said. "I hope when the audience gets to see the new season, they'll be excited by all the new heights that we've taken these heroes. When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying."

He added: "Of course with real historical figures, there are always more aspects of their lives that could be explored, but it made sense story-wise for our Leif, Freydis and Harald's voyages to end with our third season. And we really cannot wait for the fans to see the conclusion of this chapter of history."

What has the cast said about the series ending?

Since the third and final season of Vikings: Valhalla was released late last week on 11th July, the cast have taken to social media to thank fans for their support of the show.

Sam Corlett who plays Leif Erikson, Leo Suter who plays Harald and Frida Gustavsson who plays Freydís shared a joint post which featured two behind the scenes pictures on Instagram last week and captioned it: "Raising our horns to all our incredible fans! Thank you for your relentless love and support as we unleash the epic THIRD season of VIKINGS: VALHALLA on @netflix. On behalf of all the cast and crew … SKOL to you all! 🛡️⚔️."

Sam also shared his own post, thanking everyone who worked on the show, saying: "It was an honour to have collaborated with our exceptional cast and crew and to have all of you amazing individuals join us on this epic journey. You’ve made Vikings: Valhalla the No.1 TV Series on Netflix … worldwide. Thank you all!"

Ok, talk to us in three to five business days after we've stopped crying about the end of this show.
