Vinnie Jones has made his first TV appearance since the tragic death of his wife Tanya, at the age of 53.

The couple had been together for over 20 years when Tanya died peacefully at their LA home in July.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain, the former footballer discussed how he has coped in the months since.

He told hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan: “It is good to talk to friends but the hardest part of it all, to adjust to, was even that day [when Tanya died], was everybody’s life goes on.”

“You’re looking round and you go, ‘This is the biggest tragedy of your life and people are still going to work’,” he continued. “They’re coming home from work, they’re still queuing up for Starbucks.

“And the enormity of it all is… it’s just heavy.”

Viewers soon praised Vinnie for speaking candidly about his grief.

Tanya’s death came after a long period of illness.

Earlier this month, Vinnie revealed the loving note she penned in a card for him just weeks before she died .

The card read: “Always believe something wonderful is about to happen."

Inside it, Tanya wrote: “To my love Vin, something wonderful happens to me every day. It’s being with you. You are my morning sunshine the moment I wake. All my love, Tanya.”

Tanya had a daughter, Kaley, with her former husband, who Vinnie late adopted.

The couple also had a son, Aaron.
