Viral doctor tells followers the 'worst enemy' for belly-fat loss
A doctor has revealed the surprising foods he claims you should stay clear of. Dr. Pedi Mirdamadi is loved on TikTok by nearly half a million people - this is largely due to his fitness-related content.
The health guru uploads daily videos about everything from drinks that age your skin, how to detox your body and toxic household items. One of his most successful videos, having been liked 66,000 times and viewed nearly 2m times, focuses on foods to avoid to lose belly fat.
The naturopathic doctor said: “The first to avoid is fruit, especially watermelons, bananas and grapes because they are high-sugar fruits and they can cause a rise in blood sugar. This causes the body to release insulin and insulin is a fertiliser for fat, causing fat cells to grow. You should stick to berries.

“Next is bread. It is a highly-processed carbohydrate that also causes a rise in blood sugar. It also contains gluten which is very inflammatory and inflammation contributes to weight gain as well.
“The last food is rice. It is very high in carbohydrates, which means it also causes a rise in blood sugar. Insulin is the worst enemy when it comes to losing body fat.”
The video comes after the ECHO reported, from nutritionist Dr Emma Patel, practical tips to have a sugar-free winter. Although cutting sugar entirely may feel overwhelming, small, sustainable steps can make a big impact.
Dr. Patel's tips
Read Labels Carefully: Look for hidden sugars listed as sucrose, high-fructose corn syrup, or dextrose in packaged foods.
Choose Whole Foods: Fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds provide natural sweetness and nutrients without the immune-suppressing effects of refined sugar.
Switch to Natural Sweeteners: Alternatives like raw honey or stevia are better choices, offering sweetness with a lower glycemic impact.
Incorporate Immune-Boosting Foods: Beyond mulberries, add garlic, ginger, and leafy greens to your meals for extra immune support.
