Popular Edinburgh bakery Kilted Donut is set to return to a busy community two years after the previous store in the same area closed down.

The artisan donut specialists announced a return to Leith on Instagram following a two-year absence with the former Great Junction Street bakery closing in 2022.

Kilted Donut recently added to its Grassmarket store with the launch of a new branch on Morningside Road this summer. It seems a third location is imminent with work already underway within the undisclosed venue in Leith.

Taking to Instagram this week bosses at Kilted Donut posted a picture of a shop wall and tools with the caption: "The Leith Store is cooking, the bun is in the oven, the donut is in the fryer!!!

One wrote: "Yes!!!!!!!!!!! You're coming back!!! Whereabouts will the shop be? Stopping at Grassmarket on the one day a week I was forced to the office was acceptable, but being nearby is better.

Another added: "Just walked past the store before seeing this post and screamed." While a third wrote: "I’m so happy you’re coming back!"

Kilted Donut rotate their options every month, with each month's flavours posted on their website which can be found here.
