Virgin Media has issued a warning to broadband and TV package customers. Virgin Media, which is rivalled by the likes of Three, Sky, EE, Vodafone, and BT, is set to roll out a price hike for customers from the fourth month of the year.

If you joined or upgraded on or after January 9, 2025, your broadband, landline or TV package will rise by £3.50 a month from April. This won't apply to customers on Essential Broadband or Essential Broadband Plus packages, or Talk Protected phone-only plans.

Virgin said: "We know that price changes are never welcome, but like many other businesses we’re seeing increased costs while investing to keep up with growing demand. If you joined or took out a new contract with Virgin Media before 9 January 2025, your price is adjusted based on the UK government’s Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation.

RPI measures the rate of inflation by assessing the average change from one year to the next in the prices of a representative sample of goods and services purchased by typical UK households, the company - which has customers across Birmingham - adds.

"If you joined or took out a new contract with Virgin Media from 9 January 2025, your price will increase each April by £3.50, for a full breakdown of your price increases and when they will apply, please refer to your contract forms."

The amount the monthly subscription charge for your main services will increase by will be the Retail Price Index (RPI) rate of inflation plus an additional 3.9%. This increase will apply to the monthly subscription price you’re paying at that time and to the monthly price payable after the expiry of any applicable offer or discount.

"Unless we’ve told you otherwise, your Virgin Media agreement states that the monthly subscription charges for your main services will increase every April. Please refer to your contract forms for full details on any price increase and the year in which the price increase will be applied from," the company went on.
