Virtual first look at hundreds more homes for Leicestershire's first garden village
A virtual first look at Leicestershire's first ever garden village has been created. Bovis Homes says the 'fly-through' video gives people a real insight into the scale of Broadnook and the thousands of homes that are expected to be built.
The developer has released the two-minute CGI video as work continues on Broadnook, Leicestershire's first garden village. Based off the A6 between Birstall and Rothley, the major development will encompass almost 2,000 homes.
Once completed, Broadnook will also include a 'village centre', with a supermarket and community facilities and a primary school. An assisted-living retirement accommodation, 70-bed care home, sports facilities, open spaces, play areas, allotments, cycle routes and footpaths will also feature.

The two-minute 'fly-through' shows off the different types of homes expected in Bovis' phases of the Broadnook scheme. The developer said its properties will include a range two, three, four, and five-bedroom homes for sale. Of these, 28 homes being provided as 'affordable' housing available for 'local people through affordable rent, shared ownership or discounted sale'.
Adrian Wood, sales director for Bovis Homes, said: “This computer-generated video is great because it gives people a good idea of how this new development will look once it is finished. The moving images, which begin with an aerial view, showcase the wide streets, the tree-lined avenues and the range of the properties with their generous front gardens.
“The video also illustrates how this sustainable development will blend in seamlessly with the surrounding environment through the use of a range of architectural features and materials typically seen in the local area, such as Brunswick red bricks, Tudor boarding and splayed arched brickwork above windows and arched doorways. People can see what an attractive addition this new neighbourhood will be to the area."
The Broadnook project is "backed by an investment of £32.6 million" according the developers. More than £17 million of this figure is being invested into "local schools", a spokesperson previously said.
