It might be hard to stand out among the many guests on Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book – the current Best Rap Album, according to the Grammys.

Lil Wayne, Kanye West and even Justin Bieber are on there, but the only featured artist to turn up to this month’s ceremony with a $35,000 dental job that made his teeth look like Skittles was Lil Yachty. With his red braids, outlandish dress sense and that jolly nautical stage name, Atlanta’s Miles Parks McCollum could be a children’s cartoon character and is currently as admired for his Instagram feed as he is for his songs.

Still a teenager himself, his music is proudly childlike too, if you discount all the foul language on his two mixtapes to date, Lil Boat and Summer Songs 2.

He raps and sings in a robotic sing-song voice over retro electronics, and notoriously once did a rap over the Rugrats theme tune.

A proper debut album is still to come, thanks to his song 1 Night appearing on a viral comedy video, an appearance modelling Kanye West’s fashion line and that Chance the Rapper endorsement, he’s already big enough to play Camden’s sizeable Koko venue this evening. Even if you’re right in the rafters, he won’t be difficult to spot.
