Virtually famous: Odesza

Emotional epic: Odesza
Emotional epic: Odesza

Seattle is coming to be known for something other than grunge and Microsoft with the rise of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight.

As dance duo Odesza the pair have been getting bigger on stage, performing in Colorado’s natural outdoor amphitheatre Red Rocks in May with horns, strings and multiple drummers. Their sound is becoming more expansive, too – electronic music that works far from the dancefloor with ambitious arrangements and impressive guest stars on a new album.

While most dance acts stick with a conveyor belt of hit singles, this pair release their third long-player, A Moment Apart, in September. It will feature vocal contributions from Regina Spektor, Leon Bridges and Ry X.

Five songs are already out on a Spotify playlist, and it’s the Ry X song, Corners of the Earth, that sounds particularly impressive – an emotional epic that swells to mighty proportions.

Already arena fillers in the US, they’re playing the Kentish Town Forum over here in late September, but it shouldn’t be long til they reach our biggest spaces too.
