Victoria Park
Bristol is lucky to have some fantastic parks for locals to enjoy for free, seven days a week, all year round.
Whether it’s St George Park, Page Park in Staple Hill, Redcatch Park in Knowle or Canford Park in Westbury-on-Trym, there are wonderful parks all over the city.

There are now two football pitches, a maze, children’s playground, basketball court and even an open air gym.
And there are also large areas of untouched grassland with a variety of mature trees, plus incredible city views from the top.

Part of St Mary Redcliffe Primary School is in the park itself, including this old building.
The Victoria Park Bowls Club is next to the tennis club.
The children’s play area at the top of the park is well equipped and hugely popular.
At the bottom of the park near Hill Avenue, there has been a football pitch for decades.
Built in 1984, this water maze in the park takes water from a medieval water pipe that still runs from a spring in Knowle. It’s a popular spot for children to walk around.
Through the mature trees you can see the spire of St Mary Redcliffe Church.
An outdoor gym was installed in the north-east corner of the park in the summer of 2022.

I don’t know how many viewers still enjoy Doctor Who. But I’m sure its producers do. More and more, the show feels like a deeply self-satisfied exercise in Left-wing trolling. You can just picture its producers squealing with glee, as they compete to think of ways to wind up stuffy old Tories.
