I visited 'fantastic' Korean supermarket in the city centre ahead of Lunar New Year
Ahead of the Lunar New Year, which takes place on Wednesday, January 29, I decided to go to Seoul Plaza to try some of their authentic Korean food. When the ECHO last visited the Korean supermarket in Clayton Square, the hot food station was not yet open to the public, but now there is a lot on offer for customers.
Seoul Plaza, owned by the brand Korea Foods, can be found in a handful of major cities dotted throughout the UK. The stores sell fresh, frozen and dried food from Korea and other Asian countries and the Liverpool-based venue is no different. Reviews on TripAdvisor praise the 'amazing location, selection and food' as well as calling it a 'fantastic addition to Liverpool'.

I got to Seoul Plaza at 1pm, which seemed to be the busiest time of day for the supermarket. I joined a long queue of customers and looked at what was on offer. For £7.50 I was able to get a noodle or rice base with a topping, so I opted for yakisoba noodles with braised pork, in what was a really hefty portion.
I am a noodle fiend, so I was really excited to taste it. As you can see from the video, which is also on the ECHO TikTok page, there was a huge helping of pork on top of the noodles. I think for the cost it was absolutely worth it. I really loved the taste, which wasn't too spicy, but flavourful and delicious.
The one issue I have with Seoul Plaza is that, aside from one small bar by the window, there are no places to sit - unless you want to go outside to the steps by St John's and risk being at the mercy of Liverpool's seagulls. However, this is a minor gripe, and not something I think can be changed anyway.
