Organisers at a popular North Staffordshire tourist attraction say a visitor 'vandalised' their toilets with faecal matter. And police are thought to have been called in over the incident at Rudyard Lake Steam Railway.

The attraction is running trains every day this week to mark half-term. However organisers have said the station's toilets will 'remain closed for the foreseeable future' following the incident.

Meanwhile fans of the steam railway have branded the vandalism as 'disgusting' and 'utterly disgraceful'. A post on the attraction's Facebook page on Monday stated: "Due to a non-paying member of the public, who vandalised our toilets with their faecal matter this afternoon, the toilets in the station will remain closed for foreseeable future.

"The authorities have been given our CCTV footage of the person."
