'Visually stunning' Ryan Gosling sci-fi movie streaming for free - where to watch

Epic neo-noir sci-fi film Blade Runner 2049 is now streaming for free which means fans can watch the 2017 flick once again from the comfort of their homes.

The movie is available to watch on BBC iPlayer now, but don't take too long as it's only on the platform for another 29 days.

It serves as a sequel to the original Blade Runner film which released in 1982 and stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Ana de Armas, Edward James Olmos, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri and Lennie James and Jared Leto.

Harrison and Edward once again reprised their roles as Rick Deckard and Gaff from the first film.

The film has been directed by Denis Villeneuve who has since gone on to helm Dune and Dune: Part Two which have become huge box office smashes.

Ryan plays K, a Blade Runner who uncovers a secret that threatens to destabilise society and the course of civilisation.

Blade Runner 2049 was released in October 2017 and was widely appreciated by critics and fans alike, and gained critical acclaim. Critics praised multiple aspects including performances, direction, cinematography and faithfulness to the original film.

It received plenty of accolades including Academy Awards for Best Cinematography and Best Visual Effects. It also won eight BAFTAs including Best Cinematography and Best Special Visual Effects.

The 'visually stunning' film has a huge 8.0 rating on IMDb from a whopping 700,000 votes as well as a 88% Tomatometer rating and 89% Popcornmeter rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Critics have praised the film over the years with one writing: "Much like its predecessor, 2049 is a methodically structured puzzle, solved through slow but persistent drips of revelation."

Another has added: "It's immaculately constructed, full of true wonder, and keeps you under its spell all the way to the very end. In some ways, Blade Runner 2049 even surpasses the original."

While a third expresses: "Blade Runner 2049 is so visually poetic yet intelligently profound that it leaves a haunting linger if you've engaged with its concept enough."
