Singer Grimes and Elon Musk, who welcomed their first child together on May 4th, have revealed they've changed their newborn son's name from X Æ A-12 to X Æ A-Xii.
The musician gave no explanation as to why the name was changed but she did tell one of her Instagram followers: 'Roman numerals. Looks better tbh.'
Of course, California law only allows names to include letters in the alphabet, which is most likely the reason behind the change.
Previously explaining the meaning behind the moniker, Grimes wrote on Twitter:
• X, the unknown variable
• Æ, my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence)
•A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favourite aircraft). No weapons, no defences, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent
+ (A=Archangel, my favourite song)
(metal rat)
Meanwhile, Elon told the Joe Rogan podcast: 'I mean it’s just X, the letter X. And then the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘Ash’… and then A-12. A-12 is my contribution.'
It's the first baby for Grimes, who announced her pregnancy in January, while Elon has six children with his ex-wife.
