The Voice UK 2019 Battles: Here’s everything you need to know about the next round

The bling auditions are over so we're on to the next nail biting-round of The Voice: The Battles.

With elimination a very real prospect, the competition is about to get fierce with a Polydor record deal on the table for the winner.

But will all of this year’s aspiring singers bring their fight-song?

Here’s everything you need to know:

What is it?

The coaches are tasked with halving their team size from ten to five during this process. Each of the contestants will be mentored by their coach and then paired up with their battle partner.

The duo will then have to perform the same song, selected by the coach, together fighting to keep their spot on the team.

What are ‘steals’?

Each coach has the prized option to ‘steal’ one eliminated contestant from another coach. The eliminated contestant, who would have lost their battle, then joins their new team and continues their time in the competition. In effect, it presents itself as a second choice for four lucky hopefuls.

What are the teams?

Team Tom [Jones]: Mike Platt, Peter Donegan, Cedric Neal, Grace Latchford, Jimmy Balito, Roger Samuels, Equip To Overcome, Deana, Ayanam Udoma and Marina Simioni.
