The Voice UK is heading into the Battle Rounds tonight (February 24) and Olly Murs is very excited about moving the competition into the next stages.

But before we get there, Olly Murs dropped by Dermot O'Leary's Radio 2 show this morning to discuss his first few months as the newest Voice coach, explaining he has been left frustrated and second guessing himself after reading reactions to each episode on social media.

"That's the most frustrating [part]," he agreed, when Dermot asked how he knows he's got the right the people in his team.

"It's really frustrating for me when you – I shouldn't do it, but we all do it – you're watching the show, you go on Twitter to see what the reaction is to your new contestant you've just pressed the button for and there's 'Oh why didn't you turn for blah blah?!'

"But as a viewer of the show, and I've done it before, you're watching this amazing story. You're seeing their background, you're seeing them walk out and you're rooting for them, saying: 'Come on coaches, turn.'"

The singer also explained that he's been building up his confidence in his first year by weighing up his choices against those of the other, more seasoned coaches.

"There's been a couple of times where two or three have turned and I haven't turned and then I've gone, 'Oh, damnit, maybe I should have done,'" he explained.

"But when you have the experience of Sir Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am, I mean these guys have got many more years' experience than me, but [after the performance] when you're looking around and no one's turned, it's like, 'Okay, that kind of justifies the decision in my head.'"

Team Olly will now be whittled down from ten to five over the next three weeks as the contestants all battle each other for a place in the next round, which will see Olly joined by Craig David in the Knockout stage.

"Craig is amazing," Olly said when the news was announced. "We have known each other a long time. I have been a fan of him as an artist from an early age, and it is great I can now call him a friend.

"He's got so much experience in the industry, and with that he will really give me some great constructive feedback on my acts and help me make the right decision."

Dermot O'Leary's Radio 2 Show continues next Saturday (March 3) at 8.05am, while The Voice UK continues on ITV tonight at 8.30pm.
