As coaches approach the next nail biting-round of The Voice, with elimination as a prospect, the competition becomes fierce with a Polydor record deal on the table for the winner.

But will all of this year’s aspiring singers bring their fight-song? Here’s everything you need to know about the battles.

What is it?

The coaches are tasked with halving their team size from ten to five during this process. Each of the contestants will be mentored by their coach and then paired up with their battle partner.

The duo will then have to perform the same song, selected by the coach, together fighting to keep their spot on the team.

What are ‘steals’?

Each coach has the prized option to ‘steal’ one eliminated contestant from another coach. The eliminated contestant, who would have lost their battle, then joins their new team and continues their time in the competition. In effect, it presents itself as a second choice for four lucky hopefuls.

What are the teams?

Team Olly [Murs]: Debbie Aramide, Holly Ellison, Kirby Frost, Lauren Bannon, RYT, Ivy Paige, Jamie Grey, Chris James, Shane McCormak and Bailey Nelsen.

Team J Hud ‘Productions’ [Jennifer Hudson] : Scarlett Quigley, Harri Oakland, Jilly Riley, Tesni Jones, Gayatri Nair, Jake Benson, Belle Voci, Jason Nicholson-Porter, Ant and Ox, Ross Anderson.

Team Tom [Jones]: Lucy Milburn, Simon Davies, Jade Williams, Wayne Ellington, Eliza Gutteridge, Courtney O'Neil, Saskia Eng, Ruti Olajugbagbe, Kalon Rae & Chloe Jones.

Team Will [Will.i.am]: Chantelle Nandi, Wesu Wallace, Loaded Sista, Anna Willison Holt, Donel Mangena, Kade Smith, Tai, Mark Asari, Paige Young and Rhianna Abrey.

When is it?
