The Voice UK's LeAnn Rimes 'breaks rules' on ITV debut and ends up on stage with singer

Leeann Rimes quickly settled into life as a judge on The Voice UK on Saturday night, 'breaking the rules' by asking a contestant on to sing another song before joining her on stage.

With ITV producers letting both Olly Murs and Anne-Marie go after last series, there were two empty seats on the coaching line-up for this year and they have been filled by American star Le-Ann and the show's first ever double act, McFly's Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher. And LeAnn, most famous in the UK for her smash singles How Do I Live and Can't Fight The Moonlight, definitely didn't mess about in her first day in the role.

She was instantly impressed by an auditionee by the name of Joy, being the only one of The Voice judges to turn and, after turning her chair for her, asking her "do you want to show me something different?" throwing the recording in an unexpected direction, as she then joined Joy on stage in front of her colleagues, also including Will.I.Am and Tom Jones, to duet on a cover of Elton John's Your Song.

The duet was lapped up by the studio audience and viewers at home, especially when, after Grammy winner LeAnn sang the line "I don't have much money," Joy jumped into quip "Really?"

As well as loving LeAnn as a judge on The Voice UK, many fans are predicting great things for her and Joy as a team, with one taking to X to write: "Joy is brilliant - love her voice and she's got a great personality too. Leann is the perfect coach for her" as a second reacted: "Leann and Joy. Best duet I've heard."

Later on in the first episode of the new series, Leann belted out a bit of How Do I Live as she tioed and failed to attract singer Billy, who had all four coaches spinning and ended up picking Danny and Tom.
