Volunteers Clean Up After Minneapolis Protests as Riot Police Hold Line

Following violent protests overnight in Minneapolis over the police-involved death of George Floyd, volunteers were seen on Friday, May 29, cleaning up trash and debris on 27th Avenue, as riot police stood in line next to them.

Protests across Saint Paul and Minneapolis on Thursday resulted in burned buildings, looted stores, and the evacuation of the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd precinct.

Just after 10 pm, protesters overran the 3rd Precinct and set it on fire. The fire started after officers were ordered to evacuate at the behest of Mayor Jacob Frey, who believed there were “imminent threats” to officers and the building Credit: Hüseyin Günay/NTV via Storyful
