Volunteers Deliver Aid in Bakhmut as Artillery Rumbles in the Distance

Volunteers delivered aid in Bakhmut, east Ukraine, as artillery fire could be heard in the distance, footage posted on Tuesday, December 6, showed.

Residents of the Donetsk Oblast city are experiencing shelling from mortars and rocket artillery as Russia concentrates its offensive there, the Ukrainian military said on December 7.

The Ukrainian military said it repelled a Russian attack on the city on Tuesday.

Yana Statna, an aid volunteer, documented volunteers giving aid to locals in the city. Statna said they brought food including “300 kg of sausages, 200 kg of canned food, medicines, sweets to the city,” as well as handing out blankets and pillows.

Statna told Storyful she would return to the city before the new year. “We are planning to go again…with gifts, tangerines, salads and other things,” she said. Credit: Yana Statna via Storyful
