A COMMUNITY action group organised a free event in Abingdon where people got their clothes mended to avoid throwing them away.

Abingdon Carbon Cutters ran the session at the town’s county hall museum and people were asked to bring one item of clothing they wanted to fix.

The group of volunteers works to help reduce the carbon footprint of Abingdon in response to climate change and promotes a sustainable and resilient lifestyle for the town.

They meet at 7.30pm on the third Wednesday of each month, usually at St Ethelwold’s House, on East St Helen Street, for expert talks, practical workshops and discussions.

The next free clothing and textile repairs event will take place on September 3 at 10am.
