Whether you're catching up with loved ones over the festive period, escaping the cold weather on a cosy date night or treating yourself after a busy day of Christmas shopping, you have plenty of places to choose from across Newcastle when you're feeling peckish.

So with peak going-out season about to get into full swing, we are putting it to you once again to crown the best restaurant in the city. From authentic Italians and Turkish grill houses to Michelin-recognised establishments, it may prove a difficult choice with so many restaurants loved by locals for their mouth-watering food, welcoming atmosphere and top-notch service.

When we asked ChronicleLive readers to tell us their favourite Newcastle eatery back in 2023, Rio Brazilian Steakhouse emerged on top with an 18% share of the vote. The steakhouse has restaurants on the Quayside and in Jesmond, and promises diners a "remarkable experience like no other", where visitors are served their food in a unique way that combines an all-you-can-eat style with table service.

The multi award-winning Branches in Jesmond was voted as the runner-up, with diners praising its "fantastic service" and "outstanding food". Both of these restaurants feature on our shortlist for 2024, which is once again comprised of the top 15 Newcastle restaurants that have earned the highest average ratings from diners on Tripadvisor.

But will Rio Brazilian Steakhouse emerge on top again, or will a new winner be crowned for 2024? Take a look through the top-rated choices in our poll below to get inspiration for your next meal out, and be sure to cast your vote for your favourite - if your number one choice isn't on the list, tell us what is using the 'Other' option at the bottom.
