An "extremely vulnerable" woman has been left "shaken and distressed" after being punched in the face while walking her dog in a Nottingham park. The victim, aged in her 60s, was also pushed to the floor during the incident at Clifton playing fields, off Farnborough Road in Clifton.

She was walking with a friend at around 5.40pm on October 20 when they encountered a group of two women, a teenage child and two other small dogs. One of the women from the group became angry and aggressive, screaming at the victim to put her dog on its lead, Nottinghamshire Police said.

The victim was then punched and pushed over before her friend managed to pull the woman off. She was left with a badly bruised face and "shaken and distressed" due to an existing medical condition makes her extremely vulnerable, police said.

The offender is described as a woman, aged around 25 with distinctive red or burgundy-coloured dyed hair. Police Constable Beth Wharmby said: "This was an upsetting incident for the victim and we are determined to find the person responsible.

“Unfortunately, we do not believe the assault was captured on any footage. However, we are hopeful the victim’s description will help to trace her attacker. We also know there were other people in the park at the time who may have witnessed what happened.

“I’d urge anyone who visits these playing fields to think if they were around that evening and noticed anything which could help with our inquiries.” If you have any information which could help the investigation, call police on 101, quoting incident number 512 of 20 October 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
