US drama S.W.A.T. looks set to land on Sky One in the UK later this year, as the broadcaster closes in the rights to the show.

The series, which is based on the 1975 show of the same name, recently launched in the US on CBS, though had up until now yet to get a broadcaster in Britain.

However, according to TBI Vision, Sky has acquired the rights to the cop drama, which will now be shown on Sky One.

S.W.A.T. stars Criminal Minds' Shemar Moore, the show following the Los Angeles Police Department's highly-trained team of cops.

Meanwhile, Sky announced this week that it would be launching its full range of TV channels without its trademark satellite dishes for the first time.

In an attempt to compete more with streaming giants such as Netflix and Amazon Prime, the broadcaster will have boxes that allow users to stream over the internet.

It comes after the success of Sky Q, which had led to customers watching 10% more TV than before on Sky+.

On the content front, Sky announced the launch of a series of new dramas this week, including Catherine the Great starring Helen Mirren, and a Fast & Furious-style racing drama starring Sean Bean called Curfew.
