Waitrose Christmas advert thief finally unveiled as part two of Matthew Macfadyen whodunit drops

Waitrose has finally dropped the second part of its Christmas advert, Sweet Suspicion: A Waitrose Mystery, which unveils the identity of the thief after weeks of speculation.
The initial advert launched in early November and featured the No. 1 Red Velvet Bauble Dessert being swiped by an unknown thief. The mystery surrounding the identity of the perpetrator has kept viewers intrigued for weeks, making it Waitrose's most successful Christmas campaign yet.

Polls on Waitrose's website indicated that most customers suspected Fig the Cat as the dessert bandit, followed by Gamma, then May, with Steve being the least suspicious.
The retailer has now released the second ad, featuring Matthew Macfadyen reprising his role as the detective. The latest video tracks him as he tries to determine a motive, showcasing snippets from Christmas Day as the guilty party's movements are reconstructed.
The second advert debuted on TV tonight (November 26) during the commercial break for the Great British Bake Off on Channel 4 at 8.15pm, and is shown again during the I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! break on ITV at 9.15pm.
As the festive season draws to a close, Nathan Ansell, Customer Director at Waitrose, reflects on their successful Christmas campaign. He said: "The last few weeks have been filled with suspicion, guessing and alibis. Customers and Partners alike have been getting into the 'whodunnit' spirit, from wearing the ad t-shirts in store with their predictions of who the culprit is, we've also seen huge engagement on social media polls and I've even had customers getting in touch with their own detailed theories and pictures."
