Waitrose shoppers urged to 'spend 13p' in supermarkets this week

Waitrose shoppers have been urged to spend 13p at the supermarket this week. Waitrose shoppers have taken to TikTok to inform fellow consumers and customers over how to get FREE coffee for just 13p at the posh, upmarket retailer.

"Here's how we got this coffee for FREE... almost. Waitrose isn't the cheapest place to do your weekly shop. But if you're passing, it might just be the cheapest place to get a cup of tea or coffee," a shopper said. “There's no minimum spend to get your free hot drink so you can choose a piece of fruit or something else relatively cheap.

"We chose this banana that scanned at just 13p. All you have to do is pay for your item/s, print the receipt and then scan your MyWaitrose card at the coffee machine to redeem your free drink.” The handy hack has been shared widely.

Waitrose is rivalled by the likes of Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda, Lidl and Aldi, as well as Marks and Spencer (M&S). On its website, Waitrose explains: "We've partnered with the Nero Roasting Company to offer coffee made with Rainforest Alliance Certified beans, using Nero's coffee roasting and blending expertise. The free hot drinks offer will include americanos, lattes and cappuccinos, with tea available, too.

"Prefer your coffee at home? We also have the full selection of Caffè Nero products – including capsules, ground coffee and whole bean coffee – in store and online." It adds: "Don’t forget your reusable cup. Shop & scan your myWaitrose card.

"Enjoy a regular tea or coffee on us from our self-serve machines." The terms and conditions are spelled out on the website under a webpage titled: "FREE HOT DRINK WITH ANY PURCHASE With premium coffee, fresh from the Nero Roasting Company."
