Liam Williams was accidentally headbutted by James Botham in the aftermath of a Wales try on Saturday, with the moment caught by Sky Sports' cameras.

Warren Gatland's team lost 25-16 to Australia in the first test at Allianz Stadium in Sydney, and showed signs of real promise, with Aaron Wainwright and Ben Thomas playing positively in their respective roles.

Wallaby wing Filipo Daugunu had just scored to stretch the lead by five points when Wales looked to punch back around the hour mark. Taking a Dewi Lake throw from the lineout, Dafydd Jenkins caught the ball and the subsequent rolling maul resulted in an apparent try for James Botham, who had just been introduced as a replacement on the blind.

As Wales players celebrated the levelling the scoreboard at 18 points a piece, a jubilant Botham leant his head towards an equally jubilant Williams, with the pair accidentally coming together in painful fashion.

Instead of a brotherly moment, it was a headbutt to the jaw of Williams, who winced in pain. Botham looked apologetic as Williams pulled away from the celebrations.

Neither would have cared about that moment if the try was awarded but that wasn't to be the case. Upon review, TMO Marius Jonker came to the conclusion that a Wales player was in front of the maul, therefore causing an obstruction and ruling out the score.
