AMC has released the trailer for what will be The Walking Dead season 10’s temporary finale because of coronavirus.

Due to the global pandemic, effects work on the 16th episode was unable to be completed. This means the penultimate outing will be forced to serve as the last episode until lockdown is lifted and people can get back to their jobs.

Showrunner Angela Kang isn’t concerned that fans will be left unsatisfied, though.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, she acknowledger her “disappointment”, but stated: “I really love how episode 15 came out. People did amazing work on it. It will feel like there’s kind of an epic, wonderful end to it.”

Kang added: “A lot of times our penultimate is a big episode as well, and that’s the case here. There are huge stakes for everybody that’s involved, and so it will feel like there’s some danger for people at the end of it. And then I’m just really excited for people to come back, and once we’re able to finish out what we’re doing on the finale, for everybody to see that too.

“But hopefully it’ll be a really exciting kind of end to the season with these last couple episodes."

The trailer sees the fallout of the arrival of a mysterious new character – more details on whom you can find here – Eugene’s looming “date” with Stephanie and Beta’s attack on Hilltop following the murder of Alpha.

The Walking Dead continues in the US on Sunday and is broadcast in the UK the following evening on FOX and NOW TV.
