Daryl is back, y'all!

Norman Reedus was spotted behind the scenes on The Walking Dead, as season eight begins production.

Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd shared a snap of herself with Norman and crew member John Sanders on social media, and it seems everybody's extremely excited to get going.

Details about The Walking Dead season eight are still a bit sparse, but showrunner Scott Gimple has suggested that Rick Grimes could give up his life to defeat Negan.

(We somehow don't think that's going to happen, though.)

Meanwhile, Chandler Riggs – who plays Rick's son Carl – has already read the script for the premiere and he had only good things to say about it:

The upcoming run of episodes will see Negan and his Saviors do battle against Rick's resistance, compromising of an alliance between Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Kingdom.

If you can't wait, you may want to see our predictions for what may happen during the all-out war. But be warned: there's a bunch of comics spoilers within.

What we definitely know is that Steven Ogg (Saviors member and Negan's right-hand man Simon), Katelyn Nacon (Enid), and Pollyanna McIntosh (Scavengers leader Jadis) have all been promoted to series regular status.

There's also a small chance that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) may get a much-anticipated origin story – but that's still speculation at this point.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC in the US and FOX in the UK later this year.
