The Walking Dead season 9: AMC show to add new Easter eggs to opening credits following Rick Grimes' exit

With the departure of Rick Grimes sending shock waves through the world of The Walking Dead, even the show's credits won't remain untouched.

The opening titles are a chance for the show's creators to drop hints about the upcoming season or reference key events in the past, with the season 9 titles featuring Glenn's grave, Daryl's bike, and the helicopter that whisks Rick (Andrew Lincoln) away.

When asked by The Huffington Post whether fans had already worked its secrets out, producer Ryan DeGard said: “[Fans] having a 100 percent complete handle on where [all the Easter eggs are] would be very impressive! We also have plans to add a few more things as time goes on, so will they be able to keep up?”

Showrunner Angela Kang added: "We’re already working on some additional changes for Season 9, but we’ll take it a season at a time!”

Season 9 has already seen a major change to the show's logo: although it's been slowly decomposing over the years, it now appears reconstructed and covered in green moss.

“That came from [Kang] at a very early stage. The new series is a ‘new beginning,’ and so she wanted to say that from the outset,” said Huge Designs animator Paul McDonnell.
