Walking Dead season 9 WILL bring back Abraham
Abraham and his handlebar moustache are on their way back to the set of The Walking Dead for season nine… just not in the way fans might expect.
Michael Cudlitz starred for several seasons on the zombie apocalypse drama as ass-kicker Sgt. Abraham Ford, until he was viciously beaten to death along with Glenn in the opening salvo of the war with Negan's Saviours.
Abe died nobly, allowing Cudlitz a hero's exit from The Walking Dead to go on working on Young Sheldon and The Kids Are Alright. But The Walking Dead is calling him home!
Unfortunately, it's not like a Shane situation where Abe will actually be appearing on-screen in the upcoming season, but Cudlitz is definitely headed back to work on the AMC series.
TheWrap reports that Cudlitz will try his hand at directing when he becomes the first Walking Dead cast member to actually helm an episode of the show.
Cudlitz is set to direct the seventh episode of the ninth season. Previously, only Fear the Walking Dead cast member Colman Domingo has helmed an instalment of the spin-off.

The return of both Cudlitz and the previously mentioned Shane actor Jon Bernthal comes amid the news that both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan are poised to leave The Walking Dead this season.
Danai Gurira is contractually locked in for season nine, but her future as Michonne beyond that point is also unclear. Producers have started adding new cast to fill in the gaps, including hiring Tony-nominated Lauren Ridloff as Connie, a comic book character who will be portrayed as deaf.
The Walking Dead airs on AMC in the US, and on FOX and NOW TV in the UK.
