The first half of The Walking Dead season seven has proven to be divisive, spreading its time across numerous locations.

The Kingdom, Sanctuary, Alexandria and Hilltop all had their moments - and that's not even factoring in Oceanside, the community Tara stumbled upon in her solo episode.

So it's interesting to see one fan breaking down the amount of screentime individual characters had across these eight episodes. The results, which were posted on The Spoiling Dead Fans, certainly make for good reading:

  • Rick: 112 minutes

  • Negan: 110 minutes

The top is no surprise. Episodes 1 and 4 were heavily centred around Rick and Negan's relationship. Negan had plenty of moments in episode 7 with Carl, while Rick went on a supply run with Aaron in the back half of 7A.

  • Carl: 63 minutes

In third place is Carl, no doubt helped by when he took centre stage in episode 7 'Sing Me a Song'.

  • Daryl: 48 minutes

Aside from episode 3 'The Cell', Daryl hasn't enjoyed much screentime in 7A. But he still manages to come in fourth.

  • Tara: 46 minutes

  • Rosita: 43 minutes

  • Michonne: 42 minutes

  • Maggie: 41 minutes

  • Sasha: 38 minutes

The top female character is... Tara. Ahead of Maggie and Michonne. Huh.

It's disappointing to see that the highest-placed female character is only fifth. But perhaps Tara being that high is no surprise, given she was practically in every scene of episode 6 'Swear'. Compare this to Michonne, who's only had the odd scene here and there (and a rather shoehorned sub-plot which saw her kill a Savior randomly).

"Make me a bullet" Rosita has finally had a chance to shine, and ranks above Michonne.

Maggie and Sasha slightly lower is more of an indication that Hilltop is neglected compared with Alexandria.

  • Dwight: 36 minutes

  • Carol: 31 minutes

  • Aaron: 29 minutes

  • Eugene: 27 minutes

  • Morgan: 26 minutes

Poor Carol and Morgan. Episode 2 'The Well' entirely revolved around The Kingdom, but their separate arcs saw the screen time split between them, with Carol edging ahead. They also briefly featured in episode 8 'Hearts Still Beating'.

Surprisingly, Eugene is far behind Rosita. But then Rosita did have that sub-plot in episode 4 'Service'.

  • Enid: 16 minutes

  • Jesus: 15 minutes

That's right: Enid had more screentime than Jesus.

  • Gabriel: 10 minutes

Gabriel made every minute count. He barely appeared on screen, but he was one of the standout and memorable characters in season 7A.

The Walking Dead will be back with eight more episodes on February 12 on AMC in the US and a day later - February 13 - on FOX in the UK.
