Wall of Smoke Forms Above Salt Fire in Northern California

A wildfire that broke out in Shasta-Trinity National Forest in Lakehead, California, on June 30, grew to 2,800 acres and was zero percent contained by July 1, officials said.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office issued evacuation orders for the Lakehead area of Shasta County as the Salt Fire continued to grow.
