A murder probe has been launched after a young man was stabbed to death by an armed gang in east London.

Police rushed to Mount Pleasant Road, in Walthamstow, on Thursday to reports of a group of men armed with weapons.

The 18-year-old victim was rushed to hospital with a stab wound to his stomach following the attack around 11.15pm.

He died in hospital on Monday, Scotland Yard said.

The teen is the second to die following knife attacks in the capital in 24 hours and the 18th killed on London's streets this year.

The investigation was launched after it emerged a second 18-year-old man today died after being repeatedly stabbed by a gang riding mopeds in west London on Saturday.

The deaths are not thought to be linked.

The victim is believed to have been chased by a gang of youths riding scooters before being repeatedly stabbed with a large knife in Newnham Close, Northolt, detectives added.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on Monday and has since been bailed to a date in mid-December.

On Sunday, 29-year-old Terrence Baker, from Limehouse, died in hospital five months on from an attack in Canary Wharf.

The father-of-four was repeatedly punched in the face as he made his way home from the Isle of Dogs beach and suffered fatal brain damage as he fell, his family said.

A 32-year-old man was charged with GBH with intent after the attack in Plevna Street. The charge is now being reviewed. Two women, aged 30 and 31, will appear at Stratford magistrates’ court in February charged with common assault.
