Wandering Walrus Spotted Snoozing on Boat in Scilly Isles Port

A wandering walrus that’s been making headlines since he set out on an epic journey across Europe back in March was spotted napping on a boat in the Isles of Scilly on June 26.

Wally recently arrived at the south English archipelago following visits to Ireland, Wales, France, and Spain.

Footage by local man Benjamin Joseph Badcock shows the sleepy stowaway chilling on the back of the Star of Life, an ambulance boat that services the area.

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) warned people not to get too close to the animal, dubbed Wally, as walruses are a protected species.

“We have received messages that the walrus currently on the Isles of Scilly is regularly being disturbed by vessels and the public,” the MMO said. Credit: Benjamin Joseph Badcock via Storyful
