Wandsworth shooting: Boy, 16, left with 'serious injuries' after being shot in south London

A 16-year-old boy is in hospital fighting for life after being shot in south west London.

Officers said the teenager was “seriously injured” after a shooting in Tooting at about 10.05pm on Thursday night.

Police and the London Ambulance Service raced to Burfield Close, Wimbledon Road after responding to calls about shots fired.

There was no trace of anyone injured, though.

About 10 minutes later, officers were called to a residential address on Blackshaw Road where they found the teenage boy injured.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “The injured male was taken by London Ambulance Service to a west London hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

“His family has been notified. We await further updates.

“Officers from Trident and Area Crime Command investigate. At this early stage there have been no arrests. Enquiries continue.”
