A drink driver raced away from cops in Preston at speeds of up to 120 miles per hour - in a dodgy motor.

Behind the wheel of a powerful Suburu vehicle, the wannabe racing driver eventually dumped his car in Penwortham.

But officers from Lancashire Police soon caught up with the boy racer and arrested him on suspicion of drink driving and dangerous driving.

Police said the vehicle also had a number of defects and has been seized and taken off the road.

A police spokesman said: "This Suburu failed to stop for a road policing unit officer in Preston reaching speeds up to 120mph before being abandoned in Penwortham.

"The driver was arrested for dangerous and drink drive. Vehicle seized and also prohibited due to a number of defects."
