The Wanted star Nathan Sykes announces engagement to girlfriend Charlotte Burke

The Wanted star Nathan Sykes has announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Charlotte Burke.

The singer, 29, confirmed the news with his Instagram followers on Thursday and revealed that he had chosen the same St. Lucia beach Burke’s parents had married on to propose.

Captioning his post, Sykes penned: “A few nights ago I took @_charlotteburke_ to the same beach in Saint Lucia that her parents got married on many years ago to ask her a certain question and … She Said Yes!!!”

In the photos, Burke beamed as she showed off her engagement ring while posing alongside the singer on the sand.

Sykes’ proposal comes after he spoke about the death of his The Wanted bandmate Tom Parker for the first time.

Parker died aged 33 in March following a battle with brain cancer, having been diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in October 2020.

The star made his last public appearance on March 17 on the final date of their Most Wanted: Greatest Hits in Liverpool.

Sykes insisted that the group will “always be a five-piece” while reflecting on supporting the late star during their tour, particularly their final show together.

The Glad You Came hitmaker told The Mirror: “There are more important things and that time we had with Tom, looking back, is more important than anything.

“Especially the last show, it was a tough one, it was quiet afterwards, I think there was just this kind of energy in the air, that I’ve never really seen an arena like it. It was kind of a beautiful evening, but something I’ve never experienced.”

On the band’s future, he added: “In my opinion, The Wanted will always be a five-piece; I think our focus has shifted in terms of supporting each other and doing things together that can make a difference.”
