Warehouse ripped open by city's second worst fire to be transformed
A Bradford building ripped apart by a fire which took 78 firefighters to extinguish is set to be rebuilt.
An inferno which engulfed a warehouse building on Annison Street, on the outskirts of Bradford city centre, prompted the second largest response from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service that year. Fourteen fire engines and 78 firefighters had to attend the fire after it took hold in January 2021.

The origin of the fire was attributed to an electrical malfunction and a cannabis farm was discovered in the fire-damaged building, which was reduced to a shell without a roof. The building continues to be in a dilapidated state, with burnt wooden beams clearly visible through the collapsed roof.
A planning application to reconstruct the first floor and roof of the building has now been submitted to Bradford Council. The application, put forward by Hardeep Singh Saini, states that the building will be utilised for storage once again after the completion of the work.
In addition to repairing the existing ground floor and rebuilding the first floor, there will also be extra first floor space over sections of the building that were previously only one storey high.
A verdict on the planning application is anticipated next month.
