Warning issued to anyone who's carried over annual leave into 2025
A warning has been issued to anyone who has carried over annual leave into 2025. UK workers who didn't use up their holiday allocations last year but have carried forward annual leave have been issued a warning from employment experts.
More than half of UK employees have carried over annual leave days from 2024 into 2025. The study conducted by Trainline found that 51 per cent of workers intended to bank holiday days for the new year, with four in five eligible employees following through on these plans.
But time is ticking for many to use these saved days, as 60 per cent of workers report they must take their carried-over leave by the end of April or risk losing it. Sakshi Anand, VP of Growth and UK GM at Trainline, said: "The Rail Sale 2025 offers substantial discounts on train travel across thousands of routes.

"Whether you're looking for a mini-break to use up your annual leave from last year or simply want to grab a trip at a bargain price, this offer is great news for travellers who want to save money." In the UK, almost all people classed as workers are legally entitled to 5.6 weeks’ paid holiday a year.
While that figure may sound generous, it doesn't take long for it to get used up pretty quickly. Employees can get the double the days off in April, thanks to the Good Friday and Easter Monday bank holidays, experts have previously suggested.
The hack is part of a trick to get over 50 days off this year - while using less than 25. If you book off Monday, April 14 to Thursday, April 17 2025, as well as Tuesday, April 22 to Friday, April 25 2025, you can enjoy a whopping 16 consecutive days off work for just eight days of annual leave.
