Warning issued for drivers who have Kia, Tesla or Aston Martin on their driveway
A warning has been issued to anyone with a Kia, Tesla or Aston Martin car on their driveway. Drivers have been warned after tens of thousands of cars were urgently recalled and withdrawn from sale from leading car manufacturers.
Among the cars impacted are the 2024-2025 Aston Martin DB12, 2025 Aston Martin Vantage and 2025 Aston Martin DBX707, as well s Tesla, Elon Musk's car giant. Tesla began notifying all of its retail stores and service centers about the recall on or after January 8.
Its engineers investigated the issue, which included evaluations of the low-voltage battery supply, hardware vintage and firmware releases of the vehicles. The investigators determined that a reverse current may cause a short in the circuit board of the vehicle’s computer when it’s powered on.

An estimated two per cent of the recalled Tesla models are suspected of having the defect. Tesla assessed prior software releases and vehicle fleet data. Its investigators traced the fault to vehicles equipped with older software versions and elected to issue the voluntary recall last month.
Kia
Kia is recalling almost 75,000 cars over fears a loss of headlights and rear lights can reduce visibility, potentially heightening the risk of a crash. Affected vehicles include model-year 2024-25 Sorento and model-year 2025 Sorento Hybrid and Sorento Plug-in Hybrid SUVs. The issue lies in the body domain control unit software, which may cause the loss of low-beam headlights and taillights.
Driving without functioning headlights or taillights can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. To resolve the issue, dealers will update the body domain control unit software for free. Kia will notify all affected owners.
Those with further issues can contact Kia at 800-333-4542 (Kia’s number for this recall is SC331), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
Aston Martin
The Aston Martin DB12 (2024-2025), DBX707 (2025) and Vantage (2025) models is also affected, with 1,452 vehicles being recalled. Aston Martin has issued a voluntary safety recall for 1,452 vehicles for the DB12, Vantage and DBX707 models that were manufactured between March 1, 2024 and December 31, 2024 due to a software fault affecting rear visibility.
According to the report Aston Martin filed to NHTSA, The above mentioned vehicles are fitted with a reverse camera that is activated automatically when reverse gear is selected. When a vehicle is started and reverse gear quickly selected, the home screen menu may obscure the display of the reverse camera.
Tesla
Tesla has announced that it would be recalling almost 240,000 electric vehicles amid fears rearview cameras would not display an image. The recalled vehicles include certain 2024-2025 Model 3 and Model S sedans, 2023-2025 Model X and 2023-2025 Model Y SUVs.
Tesla has released an over-the-air software update to address the problem, but the automaker is still working to identify any vehicles that may have experienced a circuit board failure or stresses that can lead to one. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 7.
